free youth soccer
starting june 7, 2025
With fewer soccer fields than ever available in Asheville now, we took it on ourselves to find new places to play while taking a fresh look at how we approach youth soccer in America.
We are committed to building a youth soccer club in our area that is financially accessible for everyone and wholly-owned by the local soccer community.
The first steps are free youth futsal leagues for boys and girls in the summer of 2025 with the goals of creating competitive travel teams in 6-12 months.
Pre-register to receive more information when available and receive an invite to our club meeting in the spring.

FAQs

Not perfectly clear at this time. Every participant will have the opportunity to designate their interest in joining a certain team/playing with their friends during official registration.
We will create this infrastructure once we have more information about number, skill level, etc of participants.
-
There will be a minimum of 10 games in the season for each team. This may increase to as many as 13 for the 2 teams that advance to the playoff final.
-
We will follow the full rules here which are very similar to soccer with just a few key differences:
Teams are comprised of four outfield players and one goalkeeper.
There are no throw-ins in futsal. A kick-in will be used to restart play.
There is no offsides in futsal.
Teams are entitled to a one minute timeout in each half. Timeouts are allowed when the team is in possession and ball is out of play.
There are no goal kicks in futsal. Goalkeepers restart play by distributing ball with their hands.
Substitutions may occur any time during the run of play. Substitutions must be made through the technical area in front of the team's bench, not at half court.
Direct free-kick fouls are accumulated in each half. If one team accumulates 6 or more direct free-kick fouls in one half, the opposing team will be awarded a direct free-kick.

The King’s League is a unique take on soccer started in Spain and is quickly spreading to other countries. Check out the full description and website and watch some games soon. It’s amazing.
We are adding their 2v2 “rapid fire” round to the end of each one of our games. Yes, you’ll play a full futsal game first then face the same team again in a completely different format!
There will be separate standings for the Futsal League & the King’s League. More games, more opportunities to win, more trophies.

Yes. The beautiful game belongs to everyone so this is our founding team’s public statement of intent that we want to create a community-owned soccer club.
We’ll figure out what this means and how to do it in time because we have to do it together as a team.

It’s taken a small team of people and partners to put this idea together, find field space, raise funds for equipment, etc.
The primary people focused on this are Nathan Phillips, a local business owner and soccer coach, and Pablo Delgado, father of two young soccer players and coach.

Funds are being raised from several sources such as:
Fees from our Adult League
Partnership with Just Play WNC
Sponsorship by local businesses
Parents & families who can afford to donate
